Red Bear Angels (RBA) is recruiting a full-time Executive Director to manage day-to-day operations and ensure that our broad network of angel investors are engaged throughout their experience with RBA. We’re looking for someone with an entrepreneurial spirit who loves engaging with people and is eager to have dozens of touch-points with our high-caliber investor community every day.  The successful applicant will have excellent people and communications skills, a service mentality, and be able to work independently. The ED will be seen as the primary voice & face of the RBA brand and needs to conduct him/herself with that in mind. This role provides a unique opportunity for someone seeking to break into the early stage venture capital industry by establish connections with early-stage companies and investors.

Red Bear Angels is a Cornell-focused Angel Investor Network that strives to be the connective tissue between Cornell’s entrepreneurial community and its broad network of experienced angel investors.  It does this be providing a best of breed professional investment platform to facilitate angel investments into high growth companies founded or led by Cornell alumni, students, and researchers. Since its founding, RBA has attracted a community of over 900+ interested alumni and investors, grown its paid membership base to 90+, invested just over $7 Million across 25 companies, including Lyft, ProducePay, Trumid, and co-invested alongside leading venture firms, including Canaan, Lux Capital, Andreessen, and Sequoia.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead marketing initiatives that will raise the visibility of Red Bear Angels
  • Identify, recruit, and retain new members to the growing network of Red Bear Angels
  • Maintain consistent and regular dialogue with all members of the Cornell Entrepreneurial ecosystem to include faculty, researchers, entrepreneurs, and venture capitalists
  • Manage the firm’s internal operations, inclusive of all administrative, service provider (i.e. Counsel & Accountants), membership, Board of Advisors, and portfolio company reporting.
  • Facilitate the due diligence and investment process by connecting entrepreneurs to seasoned executives and experts from within the RBA network.
  • Cultivate relationships and facilitate connections between and amongst RBA’s members.
  • Foster a professional experience for RBA members and entrepreneurs.
  • Organize monthly showcases, special events, board meetings, and training sessions.

Key Qualifications

  • Seasoned professional, MBA degree a plus.
  • Relevant background in community management, membership management, or ecosystem development
  • Proven success in marketing & sales strategy and execution
  • Superior service skills, positive attitude, flexible nature, collaborative.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, interpersonal skills, and an orientation towards teamwork.
  • Outstanding skills in organization, time management, multi-tasking, prioritization, problem solving, self-motivation.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.  Basic knowledge of financial analysis.
  • Strong market and industry research skills.
