Harbinger Motors Partners with American Rheinmetall to Develop Military Autonomous Ground Vehicles

Red Bear Angels portfolio company Harbinger Motors has announced a strategic partnership with American Rheinmetall to develop and field a family of robotic and uncrewed ground vehicles (UGVs) for the U.S. Department of War. The agreement pairs Harbinger's commercially derived, autonomy-ready hybrid-electric vehicle platform with American Rheinmetall's combat-proven vehicle integration and mission systems expertise.

Under the partnership, the two companies will jointly pursue Department of War programs where commercial-derived, hybrid-electric, and drive-by-wire architectures can accelerate delivery of robotic capabilities. Initial collaboration areas include autonomous tactical wheeled vehicles, contested-logistics resupply, and next-generation robotic platforms aligned with U.S. Army manned-unmanned teaming priorities.

Harbinger CEO John Harris emphasized the company's mission-driven approach: "Partnering with American Rheinmetall allows us to bring our autonomy-ready platform at a price point that makes true attritable mass possible, while keeping service men and women out of harm's way." The companies plan to begin joint demonstrations this summer, pursuing prototyping opportunities through Commercial Solutions Openings and Other Transaction Authorities.
