
Red Bear Angels portfolio company Harbinger Motors has been selected as one of 17 companies to receive California Competes Tax Credits as part of Governor Newsom's California Jobs First initiative. The electric vehicle chassis manufacturer is investing $140 million to establish a battery manufacturing facility in Garden Grove and Cypress, California, creating 343 new jobs.
The announcement comes as part of a broader $1 billion private investment package expected to generate nearly 4,500 new jobs across the state. Harbinger Motors was recognized under the Clean Economy sector for its work developing electric truck customizable chassis for commercial fleet vehicles. The company joins an impressive roster of awardees spanning aerospace, high-tech, and manufacturing sectors.
This milestone underscores Harbinger's continued momentum following its successful fundraising round backed by companies including FedEx Corp. The new battery manufacturing facility represents a significant step in the company's mission to electrify commercial vehicles at scale.
