Intrommune Reports Promising Phase 1 Data for Toothpaste-Delivered Peanut Allergy Therapy

Red Bear Angels portfolio company Intrommune Therapeutics has announced promising exploratory efficacy data from its OMEGA Phase 1 safety trial at the 2026 Eastern Allergy Conference in Palm Beach, Florida. In the trial, 100% of INT301-treated adult participants who completed 48 weeks of treatment tolerated ≥600 mg of peanut protein—equivalent to approximately 2–2.5 peanut kernels—representing a ≥50-fold increase from a baseline median eliciting dose of 12 mg.

Intrommune's Oral Mucosal Immunotherapy (OMIT) platform delivers allergen proteins through a fully-functional toothpaste, leveraging the oral mucosa's immunologic properties to gradually desensitize patients to food allergens. The approach aims to improve patient adherence by integrating treatment into a daily brushing routine, addressing one of the greatest challenges in traditional food allergy immunotherapy.

CEO Michael Nelson highlighted the significance of achieving results in an adult population, typically considered more difficult to treat: "These observations reinforce our conviction that this data deserves further study." The exploratory data from the OMEGA trial now supports progression to larger, fully powered efficacy trials to characterize OMIT's potential for the over 220 million people worldwide living with food allergies.
